Montpelier Re Foundation
Montpelier Re Holdings supports charitable giving in Bermuda through the Montpelier Re Foundation.
Founded in Bermuda in 2003, the Foundation has supported numerous charities on the island with a specific focus on programs for youth. Donations are administered by the Foundation’s board of directors. The board’s objectives are as follows:
- The furtherance of health and the relief of poverty, unemployment, crime and conflict or other conditions which impede or disadvantage the achievement by persons living in Bermuda of their full potential;
- The promotion of the prevention, recognition and treatment of problems related to the use of alcohol, drugs and related substances in Bermuda;
- The promotion, maintenance, improvement and advancement of education and training for the public benefit in Bermuda;
- The provision of facilities for recreation or other leisure time occupations in the interests of social welfare for the public benefit in Bermuda;
- The promotion of any other charitable purpose for the benefit of the public in Bermuda;
- Registered charitable status is required.
Requests are reviewed on a quarterly basis. To ensure consideration of your request for the first quarterly meeting of the 2012 calendar year, completed applications with supporting documentation should be submitted to the Foundation before 12:00 p.m. on January 24, 2012. Deadlines for the other quarterly meetings are April 13, June 29 and October 19, 2012.

Montpelier Re Education Award
The Montpelier Re Education Award is open to suitably qualified full-time Bermudian students who are entering either the third or fourth year of a three or four year degree programme at an accredited university or college. The award will fund up to $15,000 per year to cover tuition, books and other fees and is tenable for up to two years. There is no limit on the age of applicants. Applicants must:
- provide proof they are registered as Bermudians;
- demonstrate a financial need;
- prove acceptance to the third or fourth year of a degree programme at an accredited university or college;
- have a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4-point scale (or equivalent).
Applications for the 2012 award are now available online. The deadline for submission is 5:00 p.m. on Friday, June 8, 2012.
